So let’s start off with talking about this amazing skirt by Rachel Roy. I am a sucker for all things multi-colour so I was defiantly drawn to this piece as soon as I saw it. With closer observation and reading the inspiration behind it, I soon discovered it was an image of the New York Skyline (how creative)!
Cityscape: A photograph taken of Manhattan at sunset inspired a watercolor by artist Ricky Mujica; that painting evolved into the original print on this skirt.
I decided to pair the skirt with this cut out flower appliqué from Forever 21. I love mixing different textures and fabrics as I find it always adds a level of uniqueness to your look. Remember the more you experiment with mixing and matching the items within your own wardrobe the better you will get at it!
When you have a high waisted skirt like this, adding a belt gives it a nice polished look and ties in both the top and skirt nicely.
Since the skirt is a fairly “loud” print you could also pair it with a simple black or white tank top to tone it down, depending on your comfort level. If you want to make it more casual replace the footwear with a pair of ballet flats and your ready to go.
